Itinerary description

This started as a loop intended to take in the summit of Pico Birigoyo, but a "refusal" by my hiking companion on the climb up from WP1 lead to us deciding to stay on the easy PR131 and making it an out and return. We didn't know what the descent from Birigoyo would be like so it seemed like the sensible choice. The path is easy under foot, and the gradient never steep, so the climb doesn't feel as much as it is.

A subsequent discussion with a German couple revealed that (anecdotally) the descent from Birigoyo is easier than the ascent we refused.

Parking along the road at El Pilar is easy, with a dedicated car park as well as plenty of off road parking beside the road.
