El Pozuelo Extended Circuit, Refugio de Juanar
This circular walk is a variation on the popular walk El Pozuelo (PR-A 278), in the Sierra Blanca de Ojén.
It’s worth mentioning that the Hotel and restaurant El Refugio de Juanar is now open again 7 days a week, after a long closure of over 2 years.
The first section goes through what I call the enchanted forest, where you then pick up a small section of the GR 243 Monda – Istán route.
Taking a path to your right at an intersection, you go through a valley where you eventually pick up the Pozuelo route. Turning left and heading clockwise you will eventually arrive at the small Pozuelo fountain, which is a watering hole for animals in the area.
From here it is downhill most of the way back to the start. It is a great circular walk in this peaceful nature reserve.
