Itinerary description
Walk of historical and etnographic interest around surroundings of village of El Sauzal.
We had a a great opportunity to listen to the interesting lecture about history of this part of the island from local history expert. He showed us the church of El Sauzal which is 4th oldest church in Tenerife. The settlement was settled here by Portuguese even before the Spanish started to occupy and conquire the islands. The church was exceptionally rich, as its teritorries went as far as to La Oratava to the west and La Laguna to the east. Lavish decorations including 1700kg silver altarpiece is the evidence of this claim.
The path itself goes down to the coastal area. Take some walk along the rocky beach, and return back via the same trail.
