Itinerary description
We started from first lower parking area, coming from the village below. We hiked uphill to the Visitor’s Center, then after a break, we took the longer “Amarillo” (yellow) trail with a diversion or two, ending back at the Visitor’s Center. It was a hot mid-June, and John’s wife had driven up his bus from our start point to the Visitor’s Center, and we drove back from there. I think had we hiked downhill to our start point it would have added another 3.5 KM to our hike.

Amazing ! And actually don’t think you need to get early to go to visitor centre. Parking your car down at the bottom and walking up via the trail (rather than getting the bus) was - for us - an amazing hike in itself . With small children it took a good 3 hours and was empty of any tourists !
