Itinerary description
We started at the hotel after the Dam, where we slept since everything in Grandes de Salime was occupied (the municipal albergue wasn’t working). Right away, we’ve had about 6km of going uphill to Grandes de Salime, which we thought was a better option than doing it after a whole day of walking, as we’ve previously planned. Rested and fresh, the climb wasn’t as hard and we did it pretty quickly. After that, the trail went through some beautiful village scenery, including the very cute Grandes de Salime, and we’ve continued going up. The climb intensified at one point, but overall wasn’t very difficult. The water is a bit scarcer on this route than some others, but still enough to get by, and the whole route is dotted with little churches. Once you very unceremonously get to Galicia (there is just a plaque on the road), the route goes straight for some time, until the final climb to Fonsagrada, which is quite a push after 32km of going up and down, so be prepared. Overall a great day!
