We follow this itinerary for geographical, topographical and cartographic interest, to confirm and complete some cartographic references of the area, but from a landscape point of view, this itinerary has little interest.
The Wadi Nahela (which in the past was also identified with the place name of Wadi Nahail, and which is also known as Wādī Ghēl, Wadi Ghil, Wadi Nahala, Wadi Nehaila or Wadi Nuhaila), is a dry valley or river, with intermittent flow. , which flows from south to north, almost exclusively during the rainy season, located northeast of the United Arab Emirates, in the Emirate of Ras al Khaimah.
The purpose of the walk is to travel along the lower course of the Wadi Nahela , from the Nahela Breaker, to its mouth, in the area of the Al Shaagi district (Arabic: الشاغي), north of Khatt (Arabic: خت), in the great alluvial plain of Jiri (Jiri Plain) , at an altitude of only 28 meters above sea level (m asl)

During the first kilometer and a half of the route, the Wadi Nahela follows a well-defined channel, with a bed of boulders, and sides of sedimentary materials eroded by water, and unlike its neighbor the Wadi Kiriba , whose once beautiful sickle The mouth has now been converted into a garbage dump and dump, the Nahela maintains its channel and bordering areas very clean and free of waste.

Each new bifurcation distributes the potential waters and the resulting arms lose flow and intensity, so the new channels also lose definition, making it very difficult to determine which is the main arm, especially because, as usually happens in other alluvial plains of similar morphology, With the passage of time, the wadi current can also wander , between torrential rains and others, greatly altering the previous courses, which nevertheless maintain their mark on the plain.

On the other hand, under this large alluvial plain of Jiri, several deep aquifers run that supply water to the wells of numerous farms and agricultural operations in the area, which in turn try to take advantage of the runoff through the construction of ponds and artificial furrows. that divert the waters towards their respective plantations, and that can be easily confused with the different channels of the wadi.

At some moments we have the impression that the wadi has already completely faded into the plain, but a few meters later we once again recognize the trace of what looks like a riverbed.
Outside the limits of the plantations there are very few trees, and in general the vegetation is scarce: only the usual Samra or Samar Tree (Acacia tortilis) , with very thorny branches, and some jujubes (jujubes / سدر / Sidr tree - Ziziphus spina-christi, a species also very common in the Al Hajar Mountains).

At a certain point, already in the vicinity of the town of Khatt (very popular for its thermal and medicinal waters, and a traditional crossing point on the ancient route of Al-Qaliddi , which linked Ras al Khaimah and Dibba), we consider that it is no longer possible. It is possible to identify the main course of the wadi, because its potential waters will have been completely spread across the alluvial plain, so we conclude the outward journey and return to the starting point, using some sections of tracks open for use by farmers. of the area.
ACCESS TO THE ITINERARY AND PARKING:
The starting point of the route can be easily accessed with a sedan vehicle, although the last kilometer, approximately, is a ballast and gravel track.
