Itinerary description
You can take the regional bus from Plaza de Armas bus Station in Seville to Castilblanco. It takes about 1 hour and costs 3 euros cash(only form of payment, drivers carry cash).
The walk/hike can be divided into 3 parts.
First part/hour is until the small dam (Presa de Castilblanco de Los Arroyos) which is a easy country road which feels like walking downhill most of the time. Once there make sure to climb the concrete stairs to have a break while enjoying the small lake.
Second hour is until Dehesa de Paula and this track is also very easy and on a not very busy country road. It has some easy ascents and descents starting from the Presa.
Third hour is through Dehesa de Paula which is a private ranch which allows hikers to pass through. One thing you need to watch is the dog is which is not leashed. He is not very aggressive and only barking but you need to apply caution. Bring some dog snacks to calm him down if you encounter him. At the end of the ranch you reach Presa Embalse Gergal. The ranch door my be locked . You can cross through the opening in the wire fence, which was there prior to my walk.
Once you reach the destination (La Cantina at the end of the Park from Guillena direction) you have 3 options to reach the town of Guillena:
1. Hitchiking/car share - asking restaurant patrons to give you a lift for about 30mins to the town of Guillena (recommended)
2. Walking the same route as the cars pass on "Camino de la Ruta del Agua" road for about 13kms to Guillena (second best option)
3. or, walking the true la Ruta del Agua along the Embalse de Gergal with twists and turns and amazing views and about 22kms to Guillena bus stop. (not recommended-unless you are determined and have the endurance/experience)
I have a detailed explanation for options 2,3 in my online blog which you can check below:

While there you can also see a better write-up of this route in my newest blog entry.
