Itinerary description
A trail with great views on costal cliffs, the cove of Portitxol, and through inland forest.
We have done the trail anti-clockwise. You start at urbanisacion Isla Blanca, where you can leave your car. At km 0.5, the asphalt road ends and you walk on a stabilised dirt road through pretty dense forest (as these are northern slopes of the island). At km 1.6, you leave the dirt road (instead of turning right, you continue straight onto a path). From this moment you walk on a cliff, the path is located around hundred metres above the sea level and you have great views on the sea. At km 2.5, it looks like the path splits, but you can go both ways, you pass next to small ruins.
At km 3, you are at the cove. From the cove you go up (follow a visible path going up, it starts on your left just before the last two small fishermen hangars). A relatively steep way up starts, you walk through a forest, and next to other small ruins (km 3.8). The higher you are, the denser forest becomes. At km 4.4, the way becomes flatter, and soon you reach a dirt road. At km 4.8, you turn sharply left into another dirt road going uphill. Nice views on the inland start. After 400 metres you turn right into a path to walk through the forest. At km 6, the path reaches another dirt road: turn right. You continue on the dirt road through agricultural land (turning left and right), and at km 6.6 you reach asphalt road: turn left and the road will bring you back to the urbanisacion.
We did the walk in late March. Take comfortable shoes and water with you (and snacks to eat at es Portitxol).
