Itinerary description

In our opinion, this is a highly underrated trial in the Vall d'Incles. Although lake Cabana Sorda is pretty well-known, few hikers venture to lake Estany de l'Isla and don't know what they're missing!

Estany de l'Isla (Island Lake) is a beautiful alpine lake with a little islet in the middle, hence the name. You can get there by crossing the lake via a path made of rocks (a great way to test your balance!).

Add a visit to the nearby lake Cabana Sorda, and you have a stunning route. Hiking both lakes makes a good combo for spending a day exploring this breathtaking valley.

During the hike, expect a strenuous climb, mainly through rocky terrain, until reaching the first lake.

we went in december so when we go about half way up everything turned to snow and it became a little difficult at times. we had to cut out the first lake because there wasn’t any trails of footprints in the direction and we didn’t feel comfortable making the way on our own. however the views were incredible and it was so beautiful, towards the top you’re just surrounded in all directions by mountains and it’s amazing. the little cabin and lake at the end was my favorite, and it had an outhouse too which was nice. i’d definitely love to do the hike again! perhaps in the spring or summer when there’s less snow (and not frozen lakes)
