Itinerary description
Go for this hike if you're looking for scenic landscapes and epic views of the Ransol Valley, alpine meadows, and Grandvalira ski resort.
It starts in Els Plans, behind some stone houses with red windows that seem straight out of a Heidi episode. During the first section, the path unwinds gently, following some dry stone walls and crossing the river. After a while, it gets inside a pine and aspen forest, gaining altitude with each meter passed.
You'll pass a non-guarded mountain and continue over a scree until finally reaching two small lakes and the big lake, Estany Gran de la Vall del Riu. This is one of Andorra's largest lakes, with a surface of 4 hectares.
