Description of the route:
After the first night of the trek is when you really start to enjoy the tour. The day before, between the early hours and the tension of the flight, we were a little out of place.
The second stage runs from Tok Tok (2,650 m) to Namche Bazar (3,450 m), following the course of the Dudh Koshi Nadi river . (It is called thus, "milk river" due to the milky color of its waters, which contain lime in suspension of the limestone rocks that are under the glaciers of the mountains where it is born.)
After a good breakfast we set off. The path is obvious and there is no loss. The slopes of the mountains are covered with forests of pine, fir, birch and some giant rhododendrons.
In some parts of the route we could see the Thamserku peak (6,618 m) , which we will see during these first days.
As it was 8:00 in the morning, we met many children who were leaving their homes in different villages to go to school. Many of them were in uniform and always with a smile on their lips.
We pass through the villages of Bengkar and Byangar with its suspension bridge of about 100 meters in length. If at the moment of crossing it you meet people, in the central area of the bridge, it seems that you are walking on a trampoline.
Then we pass the villages of Chumoa , and Monjo , from where we contemplate at the end of the valley the Khumbu Yui Lha or Khumbila peak (5,761 m) , which in Nepali means "God of Fire" It is the sacred mountain for the Sherpas of this area of the Khumbu , and who is not allowed to climb. It is located just above the town of Namche.
In Monjo is the official entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park . To continue you have to present the trekking permits, and go to the cashier. Inside one of the buildings there is an interesting model of all this part of the Himalayas.
Later, after a descent of a few meters, we cross the suspension bridge at the entrance to the village of Jorsalle , where we stop to eat and rest a bit. It is necessary to regain strength to face the last steep climb up to Namche. The food as always, great and very healthy.
We leave Jorsalle crossing to the other side of the river by another suspension bridge, and we continue our way until we reach the junction with the Bhote Koshi river .
The panorama from here is spectacular with the two Hillary Suspension Bridges . They are the highest that we will cross of the entire trek. The one that is lower is the old one, and I believe that it is not in use. The new one was built in 2013 and is where it crosses now. The truth that is impressive to see them from below in the riverbed.
The Dudn Koshi River is sandwiched between these mountainous walls, making it even more spectacular.
Even Namche we have a curious little rush. There are 500 meters of unevenness in just over 3 km.
After a first set of stairs, we cross the impressive suspension bridge.
We continue with a strong ascent to a small platform that is the Everest Viewpoint . Although it can be seen in the distance and between the treetops, it is very exciting for the first time.
Along the way, you meet many porters, some of them very young. It seems incredible that they can carry those heavy loads on their backs for this hard climb. When you see them, it makes you feel very bad, but you think it is their way of life, and the Sherpa people are very grateful to have the opportunity to earn a living like this. What should be controlled is the maximum weight they can carry.
We pass a final checkpoint and arrive at our destination Namche Bazar . The clouds were making an appearance, but we didn't care because it was getting dark.
It is the most important town in the Khumbu region and the gateway to the high Himalayas. It is the obligatory step on the way to other points in the region. Visitors usually spend two nights to facilitate acclimatization to the altitude. The city has a bank, 3 museums, many accommodations and shops where you can find everything you need for excursions or expeditions, but at logically higher prices.
Namche has prospered greatly from tourism and is the richest district in all of Nepal.
At the entrance we have on our left the washhouses, the prayer wheels moved by the water, and a Stupa with a statue in memory of the famous mountaineer Pemba Doma Sherpa .
She lived here and was the first Nepalese woman to climb Everest from its north face and the sixth in the world to climb its two faces. Then in 2005 he reached the top of Cho Oyu , and Lhotse in 2007, but unfortunately on the way down he was killed in a fall to 8,000 m. In Nepal she is a hero
At The Next at Namche Lodge, it is where we spend the 2 nights for the first acclimatization of the Trekking. The rooms are fine, they have a bathroom with hot water and good views.
Here we buy the Everest Link Tickets that allows us to have internet connection in all the lodges during the days of the trek. It is very good for the family to be informed where we are going.
Around 6:30 p.m. we went to the living room for dinner to recharge for the acclimatization day.
Stage Summary:
The section of the route between TokTok and the Hillary Bridge has no difficulty, and is to enjoy the environment and its people.
The climb from the river to Namche is hard, but with small stops it is done well.
In addition, we have the incentive to cross the impressive Hillary Bridge and see Mount Everest for the first time.

Gracias Alvaro
