Third day of the Trekking of the 3 Everest Steps.

Day November 19, 2019:

3rd Stage - Acclimatization Namche Bazar (3,440 m) - Hotel Everest (3,880 m).

This was the first day of acclimatization of the trekking. Most expeditions usually spend 2 nights in Namche to acclimatize.

Description of the route:

When we woke up it was a great day. The intense blue of the sky contrasting with the snowy mountain offered us a spectacular landscape.
The panoramic view from our room was impressive.

Kongde Ri (6,187 m)

On the left Namche and Thamserku Peak (6,623 m) .

We went down to the living room and after a good breakfast, we started.
For this route it was not necessary to carry as much water. We were lighter.
We surrounded the Stupa near our Lodge, and we took the uphill street parallel to the prayer wheels that turned with the passage of the water.
As it is the busiest street, you will find all the shops, most of the mountain equipment. Everything is sold here, if we forget something when preparing the trip you can get it, although a little more expensive than in Lukla.
We reach a crossroads and a second Stupa. We follow the indications of the Hotel Everest which is a curious climb. The path on the right is the one we will follow the next day towards Tengboche .
Halfway up the slope we stop at a rock ledge with the prayer flags to take some photos.
Good panoramic view of Namche, and the peaks in front of the Kumbur (6,959 m) and Kongde Ri (6,187 m) .

We continue our way until we reach the Everest Sherpa Resort Lodge. From the last Stupa there are 300 m of unevenness in less than 1 km. A mix between cow and yak (Here they call it Dzokyo ) graze in the nearby meadows.

From here we will already have the sensational views.
From right to left the Thamserku (6,623 m), Ama Dablan (6,856 m), Lhotse (8,516 m), Everest (8,848 m), Nuptse (7,881 m), Taboche (6,495 m), Cholatse (6,440 m) , and some plus.

The truth is that Everest is not a peak that draws attention compared to everyone around you, but of course you have the privilege of being the highest on earth. Of all the peaks, the most spectacular is the Ama Dablam by far. In my opinion, possibly the most beautiful peak in the entire Himalayas. My partner took an impressive photo, just as a helicopter was approaching the Resort.

We follow the path to the Everest Hotel at 3,880 m.

They say it is the tallest hotel in the world. Some of his clients board a helicopter from Lukla. Come on, a luxury that only a few can afford. I do not know how they avoid altitude sickness.
Inside the hotel we saw a very complete model of the Sagarmatha National Park with all its peaks. They allow the entrance to the terrace whenever you consume something. The views are truly amazing, a beauty so great that it becomes indescribable.

Thanks to the good weather, we were able to clearly see all the peaks.

Then we went back down the same path to the Stupa and turned off to see the interesting Sherpa Museum which is located on the left.

In the museum you can see a recreation of the interior of a typical Sherpa house, and the utensils they use. They also have a room where they project a documentary about the customs of the Sherpa people, and the flora and fauna that we will find. Two other rooms show photos of all the mountaineer Sherpas and other nationalities who have climbed Everest.
Then we stopped at a lodge to eat, and in the afternoon we had to spend a long time purifying 4 liters of water each, for the next day's route. We had 2 UV lamps and filters. It is an ecological way of not using plastic bottles.
The rest of the day is spent walking the shopping streets and resting for the next stage in Tengboche.

Recommendation:

It is recommended to make the first acclimatization stop when you reach about 3,500 m. We climb about 500 meters and then go down here to sleep. It is necessary to drink a lot of liquid (4 liters a day). It is very important to avoid the dreaded altitude sickness.
I also took the “Edemox” diuretic as a preventive that the doctor recommended, and it went well, although I took half of what he told me.
Here they call him Zumzum, because of the pins and needles in your limbs. I only took it in the morning, because if not, you would spend the night in the bathroom and when the temperatures in the room are below freezing, you think about it.
I also have to say that my colleagues did not take it and had no problems.

Regarding the route, we went up and down to the Everest Hotel through the same place. I would recommend going up the circular loop to the left of Namche. You can visit the Buddhist Monastery where part of the head of a Yeti is exposed (That's what they say). I have read that the inhabitants of these towns have seen it on occasion. You will also pass through the Sherpa villages of Shyangboche, Khunde and Khumjung . You will cross a rhododendron forest and arrive at the Hotel. The return will be done in the same place as us.
In my opinion, I would recommend that when you get to Namche, in addition to the Sherpa Museum, you visit the Sagarmatha National Park Museum that is next to it, with all the history of ascents to Everest . We did not go and I was left wanting.

Route summary:

Compulsory acclimatization day to avoid problems with height.
They are 550 meters high in just over 3 km. We went up very calmly, taking photos, and when we wanted to realize it, we were already up.
The views from the Hotel are brutal.
During this day we did not have any sensation of difficulty breathing due to altitude, nor a headache.
A visit to the museums is worth it.
