Seventh Stage (2nd Part) of the Trekking of the 3 Steps of Everest.
November 23, 2019.
Stage 7 - Part 2 - Chukhung (4,730 m) - Island Peak Base Camp.
This second part of the stage is an acclimatization tour.
We only climbed about 150 meters of unevenness. The objective is to climb a few meters to sleep lower. It is a walk between glaciers and with views of peaks of more than 7,000 m
Technical data :
• Distance: 3 km.
• Difficulty: Easy.
• Moving time: 45m.
• Total time with stops: 1h, 15m.
• Type of pavement: dirt path.
• Climb difference: 150 m.
• Descent of descent: 150m.
• Minimum height: 4,730 m. (Dingboche).
• Maximum height: 4,877 m. (Half way to CB Island Peak).
• Signaling: Easy.
Description of the route:
I have little to comment on this second part of stage 7.
It is a very pleasant acclimatization process, at 4,700 m, taking advantage of the last hours of light.
After eating, we left the lodge and took the path on the left.
Several signs show us the way to Island Peak.
It is a marked path that passes between the Ama Dablam, Chukhung and Lhotse Glaciers , towards the CB of Island Peak .
Eric Shipton in 1952 named the mountain Imja Tse (6,189 m) , with the name of Island Peak , for its appearance to an island in the middle of a sea of ice.
We got to where the path descended towards the lake. We did not want to continue to save strength for the next day. Being surrounded by these mountains is an amazing but indescribable feeling, that's why, I leave you some photos.
Ama Dablam and Ombigaichen (Puma Dablam).
Nuptse, Hillary Peak, Lhotse, Shartse and Island Peak.
Island Peak, Cho Polu, Num Ri and Baruntse.
Lerwa partridges accustomed to the presence of man, approach without fear, in case some food falls.
After the photo shoot, we went back the way we had come.
As we went down to Chukhung , we could see the KongMa La Pass at 5,535 m , the first of the 3 scheduled steps of the Trekking that we did the next day. This is located between the Pokhalde Mountains and Khongma Tse .
My good friend Alejandro approached Base Camp where there were still tents and people climbing. I leave you some great photos of that part of the route that we did not take, and which has kindly happened to me for me to upload.

Beautiful photo from the rooftops of Chukhung towards Dingboche .
Night chat with our friends in the heat of the stove.
After dinner as usual, they turned off the stove at around 7:30, and forced us to go to our rooms. The cold in the rooms was below freezing.
We left the backpacks ready, the water and we got into the wonderful feather bag. The next day they would wake us up at 4:30. The hardest route of the entire trekking awaited us. We would go up to 5,535 m and cross the 1 km wide Khumbu Glacier until we reached Lobuche, where we would spend the next night.
As our friends say, "A ruton".
But that is the next stage.

Gracias Carlos.
