Itinerary description
Etna is is an active stratovolcano on the east coast of Sicily and also one of the tallest active volcanoes in Europe and the tallest peak in Italy south of the Alps with a current height (July 2021) of 3,357m. We did this ascent to the main crater of the Etna volcanoes from the parking lot near the Rifugio Giovanni Sapienza. With regular eruptions, Etna constantly makes its presence felt. Fortunately, there is no danger to human life, since it is a peaceful volcano rather than an explosive one. Even if it is safe, before ascending, inform yourself! Etna is not very demanding hike and for sure unique and beautiful experience .
