Itinerary description

Kneisseh mountain is one of my favorite destinations. Sceneries are stunning in all seasons! We parked at the "first lebanese flag" place (Falougha). Beautiful and easy ascent to the summit of Kneisseh mountain following dirt paths with some off-trail sections. At the waypoint "View over Zahle", an amazing view over bekaa can be the best place for a lunch break. At this time of the year, the sceneries are amazing especially the flowers and the beautiful ponds of Falougha and Kfarselwan. The steep descent (see waypoint) should be done with caution because there is no trail and you have to find your way down (This is easy for "good" hikers). The final part of the hike is part of the lebanon mountain trail (LMT).

Thank you for the amazing trail. But this winter has been a harsh one i just did the trail and it was extremely difficult as the snow completely engulfs the trail. One has to be experienced to find a safe way through

Great trek, the way to the summit is super nice and combinasion between official road and free path is really great. After the summit, the descent on the rocks is tricky, need to focus to don't fall down. Finish by the Lebanon trail. Happy and tired. Thanks a lot

I don’t recommend this for most folks. The first kilometre or so is bushwhacking up a hill of tall grass (nice) and lots of large thorny plants (not so nice). The recorded trail randomly leaves and reconnects with an existing trail, often for no discernible reason, which meant more phone checking than I enjoy and discussion over whether to ignore the recorded trail or not. The “steep descent” is a long scramble down on loose rock - the view is incredible but it is a very tedious descent. We’re a group of experienced hikers so it was fine - but I think I would have liked to be emotionally prepared for a scramble.
Finally, unrelated to OP, some idiots were shooting into the mist (looks common from the shotgun shells everywhere) which was a bit concerning when we heard the gun retort nearby, and then extremely concerning when we heard the whistle of a rifle bullet passing by. Very low viz. We did a bit of trail running after
The last half, we just continued along the dirt road, which was pretty dreamy with the fields of grass and crows.

Thank you "cmaik" for reviewing my trail. I mentioned in the description that i made some off-trail parts because i don't like to stay on trail all the time (i get bored!). Because you are an experienced hiker (as you said), you could have stayed on trail without following my recording "blindly" (you can clearly see the trail on the map). I post my adventures and trails for "free" to allow more people enjoy the outdoors, and i expected to read the word "thanks" in this long review! Keep hiking and enjoy Lebanon’s beauty.

Hello , yes you’re totally correct, I should have said thank you - posters like you are what makes hiking in Lebanon accessible, and I really appreciate that. Apologies - we just came back fairly annoyed about the with a surprise scramble, which I really strongly suggest everyone flag for two reasons: 1) fitness wise, this hike was moderate, and our group is regularly doing ~25 km hikes. However, a scramble down what was nearly a cliff with loose rock is risky and not fun for people with knee or ankle issues. Anything close to a scramble should be explicitly noted so people can make informed decisions. 2) We often bring fit friends who are newish to hiking with us on “moderate” hikes. These friends were happy to do Jabal Sheikh and Qornet el Sawda with us in sneakers - and for whom, expensive hiking boots are not in their budget or priorities. I would have been really sorry if we brought them on this hike. The difficulty rating isn’t just for length of the hike, it’s also for the kind of terrain. This helps keep hiking accessible to all types.
Thanks again for posting, I hope you keep this in mind in the future.
