Itinerary description
We started from Faqra ruins site following LMT section 13 signs (section 13 goes from Chabrouh/Faraya to Kfardebian). The trail goes down and merge with a dirt road passing by an old quarry. Soon after the quarry, the trail passes through a beautiful pine forest before reaching "Broumanna kfardebiane village". The walk will continue down next to the river before going up to Kfardebiane (End of section 13). The section 14 starts by crossing the river on a wooden bridge and climbs up through beautiful fields until reaching a dirt road. You will reach "Baskinta Literary trail" sign at Bqaatouta (going from Saydit el Niyah monastery to Mikhail Neaimy mausoleum). After a short road walk, you will take a trail to the right next to a water canal. The trail continues to Sannine water factory with few difficult parts. The area around the factory is not beautiful. Pass next to the factory and cross a water stream. The trail goes up to Baskinta-Bakish road. The walk on the road is not pleasant but you will soon reach a dirt road that goes around Bakish plateau overlooking Sannine, Zaarour and Baskinta. You will also have a view over Beqaatet kanaan dam. Before completing the section 14, we left the LMT by climbing off-trail to the left towards Bakish plateau. This ascent is beautiful and you will find many footpaths. The walk crosses a camping area full of rubbish (unfortunately some people are irresponsible and don't deserve this beautiful country). The walk goes up till a higher trail that leads to Faqra club top of ski lifts. The view from this point is magnificent (Mzaar, Sannine, Baqish, Zaarour...). The ascent is over and you will start your descent to Faqra club. The walk here is on Faqra-Bakich road. After crossing Faqra club gate, we turned left at some point and we made a tricky descent to the lower road (if you don't want this difficult part, just continue on the road). We took many shortcuts through fields to avoid walking on the road. I highly recommend this loop but it's physically demanding (25 km, more than 1000 m ascent).
