Km 0. Ferrol (All services)
In the same dock of Curuxeiras begins the English Way . A stone monolith with the shield of Galiciacarved , where the seven crosses represent the seven provinces of the former Kingdom of Galicia, is thefirst sign of this itinerary of 121 kilometers , which with a marked north-south course separates the GulfÁrtabro from the Cathedral of Compostela Access to Carmen Curuxeiras street , decadent road from theprimitive Ferrol Vello formed by narrow streets, under one of the doors of the now extinct wall. Here theold Hospital of Pilgrims of the Holy Spirit was located, destined in the same way to the poor and sick andthat worked until 1780.The urban itinerary continues along the Rua San Francisco and passes next to the church of the samename, with truncated towers and whose current appearance dates from 1757. Just after we came acrossthe National Parador , from 1960, with its characteristic glassed-in galleries, and with the palace ofCaptaincy . Both are surrounded by the gardens of Herrera , excellent viewpoint over the estuary, theshipyards and military dams where the obelisk stands in memory of Brigadier Don Cosme Churruca, whodied at the Battle of Trafalgar.We continue straight ahead by the Rúa Real, where the Magdalena neighborhood begins , with modernisthomes and designed in the form of a chocolate tablet with six parallel streets cut by nine other crossstreets. Always along the Real street we leave on the left the placid and at the same time busy square ofthe Marqués de Amboage . Later, just after arriving at the Plaza de Armas , we left the Rúa Real, turning90º to the right along the Terra or Terra de la Tierra roads . It flows into the Gardens of the Canton ofMolins , which cross in the direction of the march (be careful because the pilgrimage to Santiago is underthe shade of the trees and is really bad!). At the exit of the park we take theAvenida de González Llanosto see the Arsenal of the mid-18th century and access the port district of Esteiro (Km 1,6) .The urban layout continues along the Taxonera street and the Marc Mahón avenue , next to the MarineInfantry barracks and surrounding the perimeter of the wall of the Ferrol shipyards. At the roundabout ofthe Diapason you turn right to pass next to the military prison and the Antonio de Escaño School ofSpecialties . We are in the neighborhood of Caranza , the most populated of Ferrol. After the Cove ofCaranza, where the Auditorium is located , we arrive at the roundabout of the Sea (decorated by a stringinstrument). In it we turn again to the right to take the Avenue of the Sea, that circulates attached to theestuary. Next to it, surrounded by a green area, is the chapel of Santa María de Caranza , a good place totake a short break (Km 4.7) .The walk continues around the Ferrol estuary , one of the Rías Altas , and gives us a panoramic view ofthe municipalities located on the other shore: Neda and Fene. Leaving the Caranza football field on theleft, we pass under FE-14 / N-651 and we go along Nicasio Pérez Avenue to the next A GándaraIndustrial Estate , located in the Concello de Narón .Km 6.4. Industrial estate A Gándara (Bar)At the entrance we turn right onto the Luis Seoane road and 200 meters further on the right along thepromenade to the flood zone of the estuary. eye! , later, due to some works, when you reach theroundabout where you can find Grúas Eiriz, you have to turn left towards A Faisca and then go up to theright. Once above we leave the road and take to the right a path parallel to the tracks . We cross themthrough an underpass to access the place of A Faisca .Km 8.6. A FaiscaWe continue to the right along the Camino do Vilar and further on, attention because it is anotherconflictive point! We take the detour to the right (do not continue straight ahead). We cross a tunnel underthe FE-11 and continue to the left to the place of O Couto . In less than five minutes we arrived next to themonastery of San Martiño de abbe b
