Itinerary description
We parked on the main street of Figaró and headed out of town. Turn right by the river and the route starts by following the yellow and white PR signs and the Ruta dels Arbres. There are now signs by the river and pools saying no swimming allowed.
Keep to the left of the river until you get to the end by the bat boxes and turn right over the river and follow the path up to the road. Then turn left onto the road and follow it up until you get to the turning for the Ruta dels Arbres. Cross over the bridge just before the Rectoria and
the next part of the walk is through forest and is a steady climb. Not too steep - but constant.
Keep following the yellow and white PR markers. Look out for the turn off the main track up through the trees. This leads you to an open area with a cross. Just after the cross you can choose whether to carry on up the main track or turn off to the left. This part is a circuit so it doesn't matter which way you go up to the tree. We chose the gentler path, staying on the main track, which when it opened up at the top gave us some great views over the hills which was a great spot for a picnic.
From here you have a final climb up to the Alzina Can Valls, which is said to be over 300 years old and the oldest Holm Oak in the Montseny. It's at

Moderate
Most of the trail is great, on a very clearly marked path. But the last mile of the trail is mapped to an old, unmaintained path off the main trail. It was obviously not maintained—fallen trees, bushes with thorns, no sunlight—and felt dangerous to take. Worthwhile to just stay on the main path to finish the trail.
