Itinerary description
Beautiful trail up the mountain to the Fortress of Machaerus. Perfect as a day trip from Amman or the dead sea, or to combine with the Ma’in hot springs. Hike is mostly over the road, but you will hardly encounter any cars. I liked it that you encounter different landscapes, from the rocky moonlandscape in various colours, to the green when increasing in altitude. Biggest reward is reaching the top of the Fortress of Machaerus, with an amazing view over the dead sea.
