Itinerary description

Either a very difficult hike or a super easy mountaineering route (for it's length).

The macro-route finding is easy - just follow the ridge out, and the road back. However, sometimes the easiest route goes a bit in from the ledge. There are many exposed parts on the route, so a steady head and good balance is required.

There is no path - just rocks, so the ground is very uneven on the ridge. The last part is quite steep, and you need to climb a few steps, but no rope is needed.

During the mid-day, no shade, however in mid/late afternoon plenty of shade.

This time should be considered fairly fast--running all places possible, incl. all the way back on the dirt road.

Done the first one third of the ridge and exited down the wadi on East face arriving at the archeological site. Some steps need a bit of down climbing. Need good shoes. We took 2.5 hours for this much smaller tour with my wife. We were slow but the whole tour definitely takes more time.

Did the normal way, and again last night in reverse. I know it's summer but nowhere near your time. It is an outstanding time. Doing it in reverse avoids the tricky down climbs at the end of the route. Again I'm super impressed with your time!!!

Cheers Simon! Was super good fun. Lovely seeing the sun come up and testing enough to get the heart going!

This is an epic route but 100% needs some skills.

Ah just saw these comments now. Happy you guys liked it.

Yea I think a normal pace would be more like 4-5 hours.

And good point on reverse - the last part is a bit steep.

And yes, mjd; definitely not a normal hike. Might be better to consider it as light mountaineering.
