Itinerary description
Not many peaks are climbed from sea level, and this walk seemed like an ideal opportunity by starting on the beach and finishing at the appropriately named El Cielo - the sky!
It also takes in the peak of Cerro Molinero, a subsidiary top of El Cielo and one which is not often climbed. There is no path and vegetation is fierce to say the least, but it has it's rewards. If you want a challenge and are not keen on following the path most trod then this route might be something to consider.
Apart from the ridge over Cerro Molinero the route follows established paths which are pretty well walked and obvious on the ground. Some animal paths thread through the scrub on the rise towards the summit of Cerro Molinero and these help a little - just keep aiming upwards. Once over that hurdle and the 1200m contour, vegetation is a little less aggressive, however a few crags are present which were not evident on my maps and these have to be circumvented.
For the above reasons I have graded this walk as 'Difficult'.

Cerro Molinero
An unremarkable summit as far as markers go (no cairn) but the view is extensive and improves as height is gained. Always a good excuse for a short rest!

View Point
A good vantage point to see down into the Rio de Miel, Herradura and Motril to the East as well as looking West beyond Nerja towards Malaga and beyond.

Junction
I turned left here as the trace shows which is not the most direct route back to Maro. A right turn is perhaps better, both routes meet to pass under the motorway.
