Itinerary description
Fuimos al el Centro de Visitantes José Antonio Valverde en la Laguna de Fuente de Piedra con la intención de ver los flamencos rosas. Este año, 2012, por falta de agua en la laguna se han quedado muy pocos flamencos, pero tuvimos la suerte de ver un grupo de unos 50 ejemplares. También vimos otras aves acuáticas que visitan o permaneces todo el año en el humedal. En el Centro hemos visto el audio-visual sobre la zona y los aves y la fauna que la habitan. Decidimos hacer un camino corto por los alrededores del Centro de visitantes. Es una ruta muy plana y fácil. Tiene que ser espectacular ver la laguna con las decenas de miles de flamencos rosas que la visitan algunos años.
We went to the Visitors Centre "José Antonio Valverde" at the Laguna de Fuente de Piedra with the hope of seeing the famous pink flamingos. This year, 2012, because of the shortage of water in the lagoon very few flamingos stayed to breed, but we did see about 50. We also saw other water birds who are visitors or live all the year around in these wetlands. In the Centre we viewed the audio-visual about the Lagoon, and the birds and animals that inhabit it. We decided to do a short walk around the Centre and the lagoon. It is a flat and easy route. It must be spectacular to see the lagoon with the tens of thousands of flamingos that visit it some years.
