The Square & Compass
At the Square & Compasses, carpenter's and woodman's tools are displayed with stuffed birds & shooting pictures. This comfortable old pub has wood fires in winter and a welcoming garden in the summer. The food is all home cooked and a very friendly pub and you will want to return.
Ashwells Farm
Pass the Ashwells Farm and carry on this quiet lane heading to Lodge Cottage and Fairstead Lodge Farm.
Brickhouse Wood
Pass the farm house on your left, the hedge gives way to a ditch, cross the ditch towards Brickhouse Wood towrds the pylon.
Hookley Wood
Walking past Brickhouse Wood towards the pylon and and Hookley Wood on the right

When you have passed Hookley Wood you can see the medieval church steeple of Fairstead.
