Itinerary description
This is a long-ish loop on forest tracks, with a fair amount of shade in the summer months. I started at 08:00 in July and it was shady for a lot of the time. The section on the Camino de Hopallar (now the GR249.6) is a steady climb for nearly an hour.
When you get nearly to the main Ronda road, I investigated the right hand track which is an old public right of way called the "Antigua carretera de Ronda". It goes around the back of the Mirador de Africa and would cut out a section on the main road. But unfortunately it is well and truly blocked; I am investigating if this has been blocked legally or not. So ignore the section which goes to the blocked gate and returns. Just keep going uphill until you reach the main road, then turn right onto the road. There is a 15 minute section on the road.
