Gaucín Ayuntamiento Ruta XII - Uno de los pocos paseos por Gaucín que no necesita mucha escalada; La ganancia de altura total es de solo unos 150 metros. Hay excelentes vistas de Gaucín y también de Jimena de la Frontera a través del valle de Guardiaro. La ruta comienza a las afueras del pueblo de Gaucín, cerca del cruce de la carretera El Colmenar. Si no tiene un coche, puede caminar desde la gasolinera y esto agregará otra hora al tiempo total.
Gaucín Town Hall Route XII - The Smugglers Path - one of the few walks around Gaucin that does not need much climbing; the total height gain is only about 150 metres. There are great views of Gaucin and also of Jimena de la Frontera across the Guardiaro valley. The walk starts outside Gaucin village near the El Colmenar road junction. If you do not have a car you can walk from the petrol station and this will add another hour to the total timing.

Highly recommended if you don't want to make a big tour but still have a bit of everything: nice views at Gaucin and to Gibraltar, a few adventurous, stony climbing paths, even seen some Goats :)

The Town Hall have made a big effort over recent years to mark up and signpost a few lovely routes around Gaucín, and this Route No. XII - "The Smugglers" is a great short walk to get a feel for some of the hiking routes and the scenery in the Serranía de Ronda.
