Genesis Aphrodite's Trail Full Loop Pissouri Paphos Limassol Cyprus

Lack of marking makes this route to difficult or very difficult, I had to give up once from both end. I simple didn't find where should I go.. once I get home and try to identify route from better satellite pictures than Wikiloc offer , plus I had more experience here I was successful at this time. I did draw the trail on OpenStreet map, that is more accurate than wikiloc recording at difficult parts countable the difference, I suggest to bring you with yourself OSMAND app as well.

At close to the end I got rain, I was worry about lightening strike on top of the mountain , so I did choice safer route to back on paved road. Paved road also offer beautiful panoramic view all way long, but honestly boring to go thru the village if you are not at the first time here. So I try to find a shortcut to go back to the car, not easy due most of the tracks just go to the farmlands and surface is very difficult , big canyon in the middle pretty much exclude the cross tracks. When I left from paved road there is a gate on the road that was closed , so I had to go thru on the crop and find the road in the bush, not easy to go up from crop to the road. If you have issues , better to walk thru the village.

There are various theories on the origins of the village’s name, including the belief that it is derived from the resin (’pissa’) that comes from pitch pine, and was produced in the area during the Byzantine and Frankish period. It was originally known as ‘Piseeri’, and is also referred to as ‘Pisuri’ on old maps. At the village square, especially in summer you can relax, have a nice drink and enjoy the village's beauty! It provides a beautiful setting for the visitor who may enjoy the facilities and services offered by a variety of business units including restaurants, banks, pizzas, pubs as well as other services. Furthermore, the square is the main place where all the venues and events take place varying from festivals to traditional Cypriot nights.

The area has 8 hiking trails, crossing through the hills, providing some spectacular views and an amazing geological experience, with fossils of sea life to be found many hundreds of feet above the sea level.

Four of the eight trails are open to both hiking🚶and biking 🚴

Bicycles are available for hire and also guided cycling tours can be arranged.
