Itinerary description
This rugged 10km off track adventure starts from the Gheerulla Camping area at the end of Sam Kelly Rd, Mapleton Forest. Head off on the trail bike track till you reach Nifty's Hill then take the small trail off to the right which takes you on a steep journey to the top of that ridge. The views of Gheerulla and Kenilworth Bluff from here are amazing! From here, go left down into the valley, where Oaky Creek starts and follow it north to the Oaky Creek waterfall which cascades down the valley. Here, enjoy some magnificent views of Oaky Creek Lookout, Mt Cooroora and Kenilworth Bluff. The last section is a very steep descent to the bottom of the valley and then back across to the trail bike track. Its only 6km but will take you 4 hours as its really tough going. Do not attempt without GPS trail and a high level of fitness. For further information check out our Facebook hiking site "Take A Hike- Qld".
