Itinerary description
We parked our car at the huge parking grounds of Monasterio de Santo Espiritu.
Once past the monastery the track becomes very beautiful, at first it is wide but when you get to the junction of the GR 10 the track becomes narrow and the first climb starts. For the first peak, the peak de L'Aguila, you will have an easy climb from 200 to 450 metres which will be rewarded with an extensive all around view.
After going back to the GR 10 track you will follow this for quite a while, a beautiful broad track with extensive views that remains more or less at the same height, 380 to 400 metres.
When you get to the junction to the next peak, El Xoicanetg 440m. , you will face a steeper climb and an even steeper descent but it is really worth your while. For the descent you will regularly use your hands, but it is not difficult.
When we got to the narrow track to the third peak, La Redona 440m., the weather turned so we skipped this one and the next one, the Creu santo Espiritu, 320m.
What follows is a descent along an immensely worn track that can be slippery and is sometimes very steep. This descent can be avoided by continuing to follow the broader track to Urbanizacion La Pena and take the track at a height of 200 m. from a bend in the road from there to the next peak.
On this last steep descent we completely missed the phenomenon of El Dragon de la Calderona, which we only saw from a distance when we had got to the broad track.
The track goes up again, this time to 280 metres where you will see a narrow track on the left hand side to the fourth peak, the one with the shiny blue cross, the Creu Santo Espiritu.
From here the track goes down, first through a dry river bed and somewhat later along a road/track back to the parking place.
This is a really beautiful walk.
