Itinerary description
This 12 km hike starts at Glastonbury Camp Grounds, 30km west of Gympie. Its a great camping area with the bonus that you can bring your canine friends. We started this walk by heading up the ridge on the walking track (above the toilets), on the western side of the Camp Ground. Within 2km you cross Glastonbury Creek and soon arrive at rocky outcrop high above the Mary River with amazing views. From there, we head up the ridge behind the camp and check out the abseiling area know as "Home of the Whopper" which is right beside the powerline break. The trek continues along to the southern end of the ridge and back around to the Camp Grounds. Lots of interesting rocky areas to explore and plenty of nice views. Really like this trail, plenty of nice scenery down by Glastonbury creek and the Mary river.. unfortunately we had to cut it short as my hiking partner had a mishap and twisted his ankle, so will have to go again and complete the whole hike..
Hope your partners ok. Yes it a really area to explore.
