Itinerary description
An easy to moderate walk which is good for sunny days as much of it is on leafy forest tracks. It's a cobbled track so good footwear is recommended. Lots of birdsong, not many views on the first half (gentle uphill climb) but some stunning sea views in the second half when descending to Banyalbufar. We did a little detour to look at "La Granja" which is a beautiful old house with pretty gardens; however the entrance price was EUR 16:50 per adult and EUR 10 for children, and as we only wanted to spend half an hour or so there, we decided to save the visit for another day. In Banyalbufar I highly recommend lunch in Restaurante Son Tomas which has a lovely terrace view from the restaurant and excellent, freshly prepared paella. You would need to book a table at weekends or in the summer. Also Hostal Baronia (near the Town Hall) has a lovely terrace which is perfect for an end-of walk beer or soft drink. You can get to Esporles on the #202 bus from Palma, and the same #202 will take you back from Banyalbufar at the end of the hike. Note that the timing included the detour to La Granja, so you can take off about 30 minutes if you kept straight on the GR 221.
