Itinerary description
Bagnères-de-Luchon - Cabane Marty (225km )
This the third section of the GR10 ..
Starting at the ski spar town of Luchon..this third section is in the high Ariege mountains, much more forest and steeper climbs than the first two sections...
I made the hike with tent and some of the stages were a bit long , so i could find good place to make camp..
If doing the same with tent , make sure you carry more food than normal places to re supply a far apart, but the refuges can sell some food if needed.Water can be found all along the trail.
Trail is well sign posted ..a few times a little lost in long grass..
At Pradieres,d, en bas there is a sign leading on your left as you arrive in the valley..saying GR10...this is a VERY steep short cut..i advise not to take and continue to the lake(D, Izourt) and make the loop ..i think the original GR route..

Hello stevester! I was wondering how were you able to come back to the beginning of the trail? Is there any bus? Or you planned based on one way only? Thanks!
Hi..this was the third section i made with a one way route..with luck my wife came to meet me at the end of the section..im sure at Merens les vals you can get bus/taxi to Foix and then back to Bagneres.
check out this site
http://www.gr10.fr
scroll down to--- Les dossiers de préparation --- and you will see the bus/taxi options for all of the GR10
hope this helps
Steve

Thanks!
