Itinerary description
15/5/18
Because sleeping opportunities are none between Rascafría and Puerto de Leon and camping is forbidden in the Parque Natural, we had to change plans. Slept in Cercedilla (Hotel Aribel Longinos) after taking the train yesterday from Pto de Cotos. This morning we took the train back up again and walked (GR10.4 & GR10.1 & GR10 and PR) back to Cercedilla. From here we will take an alternative route to Pto de Leon tomorrow.
Today: lots and lots of pines in the Valsaín forest. Pines again. Time for a change, we think, however beautiful this particular type of pine may be. Luckily the weather was different than yesterday: today it was sunny. A lot better to walk in the pine wood.
The trail starts getting downhill gradually. Then, after crossing the busy road (hikers, cyclists) halfway this stage, we took an alternative path up to Puerto the Fuenfria. There we joined GR10 again. The last bit (after 2 km from Pto the Fuenfria) we lost the GR track once more and followed a local trail down.
We sleep in the lovely Casa Rural Peña Pintada. Owner is a Dutch/Spanish woman. Very nice to speak to someone in your own language :-)

We are walking the GR10 across Spain from Puçol (near Valencia) all the way to the Spanish/Portuguese border. We started March 21th 2018 and hope to finish at the end of June.
