Itinerary description
14/5/18
Uphill all the way and less boring than we thought. The pines are not our favorites and we were told it would be pines, pines, pines again. It was, but the first bit still lots of oaks, some nice holiday houses, many streams full of water and the occasional cow made it worth the while. After a couple of km’s it becomes all pines but the pines are quite beautiful actually. Some of them very high, some of them with nice colors and others crookedly shaped.
We had difficulties crossing a stream just 100 m after the point where the marks disappear. So some extra time required plus a need to change our walking boots for our Havaiana flip flops. Ice cold water good for circulation. A steep climb marked with “stone men”, leads to the more level meadows close to Puerto de Cotos with nice views on the snow covered picos. The last km is along the carretera. Coffee at the bar-restaurant.
Took the train to Cercedilla because the albergue at Cotos is closed and it’s too cold to camp.

We are walking the GR10 across Spain from Puçol (near Valencia) all the way to the Spanish/Portuguese border. We started March 21th 2018 and hope to finish at the end of June.
