Itinerary description
3/5/18
This stage was meant to get us to a place with casa rural. At the GR10 itself there were no CR’s to be found so we made a small detour at the end.
Starting from Tamajón the old road between Tamajón and Retiendas leads through encina woods, where we saw most of these beautiful trees suffering some kind of disease. All covered with some kind of moss and fungus.
Retiendas seemed to be the most deserted place we’ve passed but it brought us to the Monasterio de Bonaval. In ruins now but in the hands of restauration workers. Had lunch in the grass next to the entrance.
The path follows the barranco of the rio Jarama, that gets steeper and narrower in the first km. Beautiful canyon.
At the end, reaching the carretera to Valdesotos, we took a left turn to Puebla de Valles where GR10 continues to the left. Uphill 3,7 km along the carretera but with marvelous views along the way.
Arrived to spend a day of rest in tranquility at Casa Rural El Vallejo.

We are walking the GR10 across Spain from Puçol (near Valencia) all the way to the Spanish/Portuguese border. We started March 21th 2018 and hope to finish at the end of June.
