Itinerary description
10/5/18
A short stage after a day’s rest in El Cabrera. Natasja fell two days ago because of slippery stones and mud after the thunderstorms and finished the walk two days ago with pain on right hip, foot, knee and shoulder. It’s somewhat better after today’s walk but not completely over yet.
Leaving late but in time to attend the last guided tour at the Convento monasterio de San Luis y San Antonio. We were the only two to hear the very friendly monk tell us about his life with three other monks.
That was about 2,5 km after we left La Cabrera. The walk through the granite mountains towards Valdemanco is special because of all the granite stones in particular shapes. We had a coffee in the village and continued to Bustarviejo. Halfway we stopped at an open field under a beautiful sierra on the Via Pecuria to have lunch. The second part we continued on the Via Pecuaria which seemed to transform into a lane with rich people’s villa’s.
It was just an easy walk to get in shape for the mountains that will follow the coming days.
We’re staying in hostal Mirasierra.
Bustarviejo seems to have somewhat of an alternative scene. They even serve veggie food here and have Tai chi classes!

We are walking the GR10 across Spain from Puçol (near Valencia) all the way to the Spanish/Portuguese border. We started March 21th 2018 and hope to finish at the end of June.

Take care Natasja, the next stages we'll be hard, in especial Guadarrama mountain after Cercedilla town.
