Itinerary description

19/5/18
Again, change of scenery. After a good week in the Guadarrama mountains and three days in SL. de El Escorial, we strolled through scenic meadows with splendid old trees.
We sort of missed the GR variant that passes la Silla de Felipe II (from SL we saw signs of GR10.5 that we followed so it’s possible we followed the variante instead of the original one). So if you want to see el monasterio from Felipe II’s seat look for the other route.
We did however enjoy good views on the monastery and the town too. Just after crossing the railway (be careful) there is a lack of marks but they do return.
We had lunch at the restaurant El Alamo in El Estacion de Zarzalejo; recommended because of very friendly owners.
The last bit towards Robledo offered good views on the next mountain ranges. Because of hotel options, we continued to the station area and stayed at the charming Hotel Rural Nuevo Cedro with views on the station and railroad tracks.
————————————————-
We are walking the GR10 across Spain from Puçol (near Valencia) all the way to the Spanish/Portuguese border. We started March 21th 2018 and hope to finish at the end of June.
