Itinerary description
1/6/18
It is getting a bit predictable but it was a wonderful stage again. Starting from camping Gredos in Hoyocasero (where we were the only ones and slept in a tiny but very comfy cabin) where we said goodbye to our very friendly host for two days Jose.
After some pines and oaks the landscape opened up again towards the N501. This time of year the alpine meadows were full of flowers and we were up for some more. Once reached the N-road we decided to skip puerto de Pico. Didn’t feel like walking along the traffic.
So shortly after la Venta Rasquilla where we had coffee we turned right on a dirt road (part of another GR: 293) to take a shortcut to San Martin de Pimpollar. And we were, again, treated by the gorse (furze). All of them in bloom: white, light yellow, darker yellow; thousands of them. Beautiful!
We had a lovely lunch at Restaurant El Yantar de Gredos, with fantastic hosts. Leaving it a bit harder to complete the last 15 km also cause of the wine... But with help from the gorse and new views on the snowy Gredos peaks, we managed to reach Hoyos del Espino. Even though we didn’t like the last part so much because of the pines and the fact that the last 5 km through the Parque was on asphalt and quite some cars passed us. Bit of a weird feeling when hiking in a nature park.
The campsite of Hoyos de Espino that we passed and had a drink was tempting too as it was a beautiful night but we reserved a hotel already this morning. So we’re staying in Hotel AltoGredos next to the big parking lot where people enter the Gredos. Thank god it’s not summer yet!

We are walking the GR10 across Spain from Puçol (near Valencia) all the way to the Spanish/Portuguese border. We started March 21th 2018 and hope to finish at the end of June.
