Itinerary description
4/6/18
Long stretch; not too demanding if it had not been for the poor way marking, the sometimes overgrown paths and very regular flooding of the camino due to rain from the last few days.
The first stretch is along the river. After 500 m of tarmac the road becomes path. This path leads through muddy meadows where cows sometimes block the way but will step aside once you get close. On the left you see the river Tormes and the first mountains of the Gredos’ central part. At the end of this pista you’ll find a bridge and a tarmac road that leads up to Navacepeda. We don’t go there but take a small path to the left.
This is the point where we first got stuck in flooded paths and lost track of the marking. This happened more often from this point onwards but of course the floodings will depend on season and rainfall.
Parts of the camino were via the road, which is a pity but what do you do about it?
At one point there’s a steep climb at the right side of the road which eventually leads to a path where we had a great view of the Sierra de Béjar far away with snow caps. After that we hit a small road again, 1,5 km’s from La Aliseda de Tormes.
In La Aliseda de Tormes we hoped to get a beer at the bar and buy some food because we’re going camping. Unfortunately we arrived half an hour before the bar opened and there’s no store. So we continued and left the GR10 to head for camping los Chozos de Gredos; a magical place near Bohoyo with nice chozos to sleep in and surroundings to dream of... We’re the only ones here so it will be a quiet night.

We are walking the GR10 across Spain from Puçol (near Valencia) all the way to the Spanish/Portuguese border. We started March 21th 2018 and hope to finish at the end of June.
