Section 1: Canfranc - Torla
Distance: 55 mi (88km)
Elevation gain: 14164 ft (4300m)
Day 1: Canfranc - Ibon de Anayet.
Distance: 8.18 mi (13.16km)
Elevation gain: 3700 ft (1134m)
Campsite: Ibones de Anayet (wild camp)
First day, started hiking at noon or so after taking the train at 6:30 AM. Good weather, but started to get cold and cloudy at the end.
Day 2: Ibon de Anayet - Refugio de Respomuso
Distance: 15.76 mi (25km)
Elevation gain: 3600 ft (1100m)
Campsite: Embalse de Respomuso (wild camp)
Second day, descending through the Anayet ski complex. Lots of rain and cold - getting to the refuge for a tea and hot chocolate was super nice!
Day 3: Refugio de Respomuso - Rio Caldares
Distance: 9.2 mi (14.8km)
Elevation gain: 3200 ft (975m)
Campsite: Rio Calderas (wild camp)
Third day, hiking with a group of Americans. Supposedly the hardest day, it started with a tough climb but with great views and a not-too-bad downhill ending with a river valley.
Day 4: Rio Caldares - Refugio Bujaruelo
Distance: 16.11 mi (26km)
Elevation gain: 3500 ft (1075m)
Campsite: Refugio Bujaruelo (campsite)
Fourth day, passing through Banos de Panticosa before going over a pass and down into the valley of Torla, getting close to the first national park of the GR11 - Parque Nacional de Ordesa y Monte Perdido. A long, long descent.
Day 5: Refugio Bujaruelo - Torla
Distance: 5.8 mi (9.3km)
Elevation gain: 164 ft (50m)
Campsite: Camping Rio Ara (campsite)
Started the fifth day out getting to Torla in the morning before taking a bus to Ordesa for a day hike.
