Itinerary description
Non-official section of GR131 crossing the island from coast to coast along a high route. Can be walked in either direction. The first day from either end is along roads and can be skipped by taking a taxi to the second waypoint from that end of the route.
Note: Wikiloc elevation gain/loss gauge seems off - should be 3250m total instead of 4600m. If walking only days 2-5 instead of 1-6 then the elevation gain/loss is closer to 2500m total.
Season: Essentially year-round trekkable climate. Feb-May are considered the best season. Jun-Sep can be hot. Oct-Jan higher chance of rain and fog.
Access: Fly into LPA (Gran Canaria airport) or take a ferry to Las Palmas, the main city. Taxis and "Global bus" service allow access to additional points along the route.
Day 1: Faro de Maspalomas to Ayagaures (expendable) - net ascent +500m over 18km
Day 2: Ayagaures to Hoya de Tunte - net ascent +900m over 12km
Day 3: Hoya de Tunte to El Garanon - net ascent +700m over 10km
