Itinerary description
12 km with 840 m ascent, rating 4.5 out of 5 stars
WARNING: this descent towards Montana de Las Tierres is steep via a small trail that sometimes requires some use of your hands to go down. Not recommended during or after rain because it can get slippery. Not suitable for people with vertigo.
This was a very nice walk with some serious ascent in the beginning and a slightly difficult descent towards Montana de Las Tierras. Very scenic and there are some small “caves” along the route, not really big ones.
The Cuevas del Molino are a well maintained little oasis with caves about halfway the hike.
The way back from Montana de Las Tierras to the starting point though the Barranco de Guayadeque is beautiful and even the fact that the trail is relatively close to the asphalt road did not take away this beauty...There were not that many cars passing by anyways.
The first part of this hike is described in the Rother walking guide Gran Canaria, hike number 71. An alternative route for the descent can be found in hike number 70 in the same guide.
