Itinerary description
Starting out at restaurant Maitena, cross the road & start climbing. It's a steady ascent to the acequia. Keep left & follow the gradual incline up to where the river is tapped. In general the ground is uneven & in many areas landslides have undermined the acequia & the path.
When you meet the river, the path is in poor condition & one has to cross the river where it's possible.
There's the ruins of an old mill, keep left up the road & look for an acequia heading back in the direction of Güéjar Sierra.
After a few km the acequia continues but, there's a gate blocking the way.
We dropped down via the road & headed towards the town. Before entering the town, we descended down towards La Fabriquilla restaurant.
From there you take the tranvia route along by the river back to the parking place.

Thanks this was a good route to follow, and I had looked at many beforehand! Great place to park/start, and the acequia route plus the tranvía sections were the highlights. (The GPS tracking went a bit off along a section of the acequia but if you are experienced with following Wikiloc tracks you'll be fine!) Güéjar Sierra is a stunning place.
