Highlights:
- Puente Colgante Del Barranco De Las Animas (5.1 km)
- Puente sobre el río Genil (5.5 km)
This relatively easy track starts at the parking at the Embalse de Canales. It follows a stretch of the old railway track of the Tranvia de Sierra Nevada which operated from 1925 to 1974.
Along this strecth you will see a number of info panels about the railway track, go through a number of dark short tunnels and make a short detour along a track alongside the river Genil and cross two short suspension bridges.
Although you will climb about 300 metres ( and NOT the 554 as wikiloc says) most of the ascent goes almost unnoticed because it is a gradual ascent for the greatest part.
The scenery is sometimes breathtaking, especially in autumn when you see the golden shine of the beautifulcoulours of the leaves on the trees, even in late November.
