Itinerary description

Jebel Qatar
Jebel Qatar (جبل قطار) is located near Al Buraimi, an Omani town near the UAE-Oman border. It is also known as Jebel Qitar. The mountain is 786 (605?) m high and has a range of 50 m cliffs. At the top, you can also see a big plateau.

Segments
P-01 - P-09 . Gradual ascent.
You will gradually climb until you reach a point from where you will see a mask-looking rock at P-09. In this section, you will face a couple of points when you will have to climb P-04 and P-06.

P-09 - P-11. Main ascent.
You will climb a much steeper ascent which has installed helping metal points where you can put your feet while climbing. When you reach the top P-11 you will see an amazing view of Al Buraimi governorate.

P-11 - P-15. Wadi and spiky rock.
You will hike in a wadi with pools and reach a very picturesque spiky rock.

P-15 - P-16. Plateau.

P-16 - finish. Descend

Parking
While driving from Al Buraimi to Mahdah take an offroading track at 24.363941, 55.886071 on the right-hand side. After that, you need a 4x4 car or at least AWD with high clearance. One guy came with a VW Tiguan. The parking location is 24.344081, 55.907706 (24°20'38.7"N 55°54'27.7"E).

Must-have gear
1) High-cut hiking shoes
2) 3 liters of water in hot July was enough. Take 4 liters
3) Sun protective clothing
