Itinerary description

On this week trip there is great variation in the nature you walk in. You walk from quiet mountains north on Hardangervidda, to more hilly terrain around the cabins westwards. From Stavali, Kinso's waterways with its beautiful waterfalls go to Kinsarvik.

Halne - Stigstuv - Sandhaug - Litlos - Torehytten - Stavali - Kinsarvik

Day 1: On foot from Halne to Stigstuv. On the way you come up on a high plateau which gives a view of much of Vidda, including the Hårteigen towards the southwest. The trip takes approx. 5 hours.

Day 2: Southwards past Hellehalsen to Sandhaug, estimated time approx. 6 hours.

Day 3: Past Besso to Litlos, approx. 7 hours. Here you come through the most central parts of Vidda with nice views and long lines of suction.

Day 4: Past Hårteigen to Torehytten, approx. 5 hours. On this trip you can take a detour on the Hårteigen, but outside the marked DNT path. If it is wet it can be difficult to get up. From the summit, on days of clear weather, you can see Gaustatoppen in the southwest and Hardangerjøkulen and Hallingskarvet in the northwest.

Day 5: West of Kinso and Veivatnet to Stavali, approx. 7 hours. Stavalistølen is a good example of the traditional and functional cluster hill. Here you can get fresh dairy products from the stables.

Day 6: Down along Kinso to Kinsarvik, approx. 5 hours. The trail runs partly on rocky rocks, but is easy to walk. Steep down to Nykjesøy through beautiful pine forest. Further down past the large waterfalls Søtefoss, Nykjesøyfoss and further down Nyastølfoss. The trip goes through one of the most beautiful and unspoilt valleys we have in Western Norway. The Kinsarvik watercourse is protected from development which ensures future good nature experiences here. In Kinsarvik, the medieval church from approx. 1200 Kinsarvik worth a visit.
