Itinerary description

This is a long and tiresome climb with the most amazing view on the very end, a rather unavailable peak. In july there is loads of flies (also the biting horseflies) allmost up to the top, probably better for september. This track is one route. It's a good route but there may be a more optimal. The climb is very steep and at times you have to a fair bit up and down big boulders and up a crack, and even with this track you still have to look for the safe passage at the wall of rock near 600m.

To get to the starting point you have to walk the beach on rocks, a long and annoying walk, or preferably go by kayak like we did. For the starting point in hindsight we should have started from the river north of our starting point, if you come by feet you can leave the shore more early. Either way, more or less follow any route you want in the direction of where this tracks hits the 150m equidistance.

Then continue steeply up rocks and trees to the point where our upbound route and downbound route diverge on the 550m equidistance. At that point, don't go the long useless detour to the north, follow the direct western track. Here is the climbey bit where you have to use your own sense! There is multiple safe paths, you don't have to take a super dodgy one. Where our two tracks converge again, there is a crack where you can easily scale the sheer rock face. Once over the rock face, you will have the posibility to fill your water bottles from the melting water. (at least still in july). Then follow the track to the ridge, up the ridge and enjoy the amazing vistas!

When going down just be aware there are rolling rocks and you will be tired and can easily slip, take care and take your time :) We did have a little fall.

The trip took us 12 hours including the kayak in. That is at a very careful pace. Some mountains runners said we would need just 2h up. ;)
