Itinerary description
Beautiful hike starting in Hellemobotn, passing through west-Padjelanta and Rago Nasjonalpark, ending with a mountain road above Sørfold. I did it in early Augst, but due to the wading of the rivers late August is better. Most of the route is without any trail and some parts can be tricky, particularly the fords.

Completed this trail in September 2016. It was me and my girlfriend's first long distance hike, and albeit very demanding we were completely blown away. The weather was absolute shit during our 9 days completely alone in the wilderness, but the trip sparked a love, nay lust, for hiking that hasn't died since. I wouldn't recommend doing this as your first long distance hike, we just couldn't resist the temptation.
We are 2 days away from our next trip in the area, and we just can't wait. Thanks Gerrit for providing such an excellent trail for two newbies to follow. You can add our new found passions to your merit list in life. The trail is quite demanding with many tough fordings and absolutely no paths, but when following your trail it was made easy. We actually almost turned back in the beginning due to a technically challenging ascent from Hellemobotn, but this was mainly due to the mountain being very wet. We managed to get over our fears and no parts of the trail thereafter were technically challenging except for the fords.
The best parts were the areas bordering between Sweden and Norway, especially the path from Vastenjaure to Rago. Wow.
Funny story time; when we reached the Rago hut, exhausted to all hell, we open the log book to find Gerrit himself was there just half a day before us. We were literally following his trail AND his real life person, probably only 10km behind.

Great trail, especially for people seeking solitude.
Start is reachable via ferry to Hellemobotn (usually only Sundays, Thursday's and Fridays (once per day)). Buying provisions on Sundays isn't possible in Drag (starting point of the ferry).
Did the trail at the beginning of July. One river crossing (the second) was particularly sketchy. The others were doable. Did not have any rain before or during trail.
Had to cross several small snow fields. Most of which will probably be gone by August.
Definitely bring mosquito repellent. Makes life easier for first 3 days on trail.
Thank you Gerrit for providing this amazing route.
