Itinerary description
Exploring the Hidden Oasis after the rainy days in UAE and linking the trail with Wadi Shah
This is a Moderate Plus level hike, there are areas where bouldering is required. The trail has a lot of boulders, loose rocks but mostly well laid trail areas..
We started from the Jebel Jais Via Ferrata / Bear Grylls just before the sunrise.. Following the off road path which is recently made up to 3km.. Then there is a well laid trail path heading towards the Hidden Oasis (Photo-1).. After about 1.5km, we reached the beautiful oasis.. a flat field with eye soothing lush green surrounded by mountains.. Up to this point the hike is easy+ level having mix of off road and trail path with gradual elevation gain.. So who ever just looking for Hidden Oasis can come and return back through the same way.. In total it will be 9 - 10km hike.. (https://www.wikiloc.com/hiking-trails/bear-grylls-hidden-oasis-shahha-village-96215929)
Our intension was to extend further aiming the wadi shah summit.. After deviating from the oasis at WP-1, the trail is then becomes rough with boulders and polished rock surfaces.. There is a point which is a bit technical and not easy to pass if you are alone (Photo-5)..
After the point at Photo-7, it is mostly loose rocks and on top there is the wadi shah summit point.. After summitting we descended through the flat fields / old village lands (Photo-8,9&10).. Then we had to pass through the wadi which is full of boulders (Photo-11)... And finally when we are down, there is the trail path leading towards bear grills(Way Point-2)..
We walked through the trail for about 4km before we reached back to bear grills...
Overall it was was a good hike.. Not that scenic except the Hidden Oasis but definitely good for endurance with bit of technical areas..
In the 14km hike, about 9km are having well laid path, and the rest is boulders, loose rocks etc..
Points to note:
- Mobile network is not available when you go deep inside, so recommend to download the trail in advance in case you want to follow
- Greenery in the hidden oasis is subject to rain / season
- Trail starting point is accessible with sedan cars
- It is a long and moderate plus level hike, keep enough water / electrolytes etc. according to the climate
- Go back through the same trail if you cant pass the risky point (Photo-5)
- NO LITTERING PLEASE

We followed this loop, this hike was bit challenging and interesting. Trail upto hidden oasis is well laid one and pretty easy and then it started lil challenging.
We got stuck in one place ( photo number 5 in Muhsin's description) , we tied to climb the rock but the last rock was lil slippery but we were not ready to give up and it took us sometime to figure out a different path to cross that rock, which was comparatively easy. And the toughest part was after the wadi shah summit..
This hike is not for beginners and please dont think about this hike, if you are not physically fit and have good stamina.
Thank you Muhasin for the detailed description.

We did this one in reverse...and I think was a good choice as we left the easy part at the end. The crazy super technical waterfalls and big rocks that you climbed , we had to go down...and I think was a bit easier ...in some places just slide down and tear our 👖...definetly is not a hike for solos, you really need help from others.
Hi Elida,
That's cool 😎
Hope you had an amazing hike 👏🏼

I failed to pass photo 5 (I tried), but we were fortunate to find a better one on our left side.
By the way, the bulldozer in photo 13 is no longer there. 😜

I love the hike but fairly difficult. I also recommend start with the difficult part and do NOT do this hike alone.

My first ever hike and straight on this amazing trail. A little bit challenging but 100% worth it. Physical fitness and endurance are a must here. Still wondering who has built a bench on the peak.
Hi @Shayyab, @D Shamsi,
Many thanks for your comments and reviews...
Nice route. Couldn’t pass photo six. That rock was super hard to climb since the surface was slippery.

Hi Muhasin,
Thanks again for all the details you've shared. They're very helpful along the way. It was not easy, but a rewarding hike.
Hello Iwona,
Many thanks for your review.. I'm glad to hear that you found my trail useful.. indeed, it is not an easy hike.. you may also try Musaibat Village - Hidden Oasis loop that will be much easier, another full loop.. keep hiking...
I'm sure this one is also great, but we did "Wadi Lahsa - Musaibat Village Extended Loop up to Wadi Shah Summit" before, so wanted to try new paths time. Climbing these rocks was not easy, but we had a great time doing it 😊
That's nice... Keep hiking 🙌🏻😍
