Itinerary description
Some good altidude gain on this hike but the view of the lakes by Venasque refuge is amazing from the top just before reaching Port de Venasque.
Once you reach the Port, the Spanish side of the Pyrenees is awesome and beautiful. You could continue to the right to go up to the top of Pic de Sauvegarde which must have an equally amazing view.
The only other thing to mention here is that after Puerto de la Picada, we continued on trail 23 which is on the left side. Once you reach the top of the mountain, you see a rock with the sign to go to Hospicio de France on the right side. This trail just takes you on a panoramic view of the southeast mountain range. Then you join trail 23 at rhe bottom. You don't have to deviate and you can keep on trail 23 on the left side.
