Itinerary description
Hiking - Atop Mount Freidur, a monument commemorates the eight crew members of a RAF's B-24 which crashed here on Oct 14th, 1944.
There aren't many places at the parking near the church in Talucco. If full, try one Km further up the road - which in this track is the way down from Colle Ciardonet.
On from Freidur the trail becomes a bit rougher, although equally pleasant, and touches the eastern of the three "teeth" (Tre Denti) with a small chapel at the summit.
Casa Canada, aka Rifugio Melano, was re-erected here after serving as the host building of the Canadian Olympic Team - materials shipped from Canada - installed in Torino's city center during the 2006 Winter Olympic Games. Wonderful log building. Nearby "Rocca Sbarua" is a climbers' paradise with 100+ 5-class routes, some of which exceed 1,000 ft. in length. Wonderful gneiss/granite rock, one among my favorite climbing spots.
Most of this hike is through shaded woods.
